Reducing Wastewater

Written by Martine Kok | Jun 1, 2023 10:00:00 AM

In 2023, TenCate Protective Fabrics made significant investments in upgrading the system that supplies production process ammonia at our Nijverdal, the Netherlands, manufacturing facilities.

The upgraded system plays a crucial role in the curing process of our flame-resistant treated (FRT) fabrics, a process where ammonia is a key component. The upgrade involved adding an innovative liquid ammonia evaporation system that allows very precise adjustments of ammonia levels, significantly minimizing excess ammonia salt from entering the wastewater system. This elevated level of precise control ensures the effectiveness and efficiency of the treatment process and reduces the environmental impact associated with wastewater discharge.

The installation of this machinery is a testament to our proactive measures to not just adhere to environmental regulations but to strive to exceed them through technological innovation and operational excellence.
