In March 2023, TenCate Protective Fabrics took a step forward in the commitment ensuring the well-being of employees by conducting a comprehensive Preventative Medical Examination, or Periodiek Medisch Onderzoek (PMO), at our Nijverdal, the Netherlands, location.
The examination is conducted every four years under the guidelines of Dutch labor laws. The 2023 PMO targeted all employees at our EU operation, offering each individual a voluntary opportunity to participate in a detailed health and well-being survey followed by a series of medical tests.
The tests are designed to cover a broad spectrum of health metrics, including auditory and visual health, heart health, and mental well-being. A crucial component of the PMO was the additional survey on Psychosocial Workload (PSA), highlighting the recognition of the importance of mental health alongside physical health in the workplace.
The aim of the PMO was multifaceted—to prevent occupational diseases, improve employees’ overall health, and promote well-being at work. Following the PMO, our internal team initiated actions based on the outcomes of the research and shared these results with the EU workforce. That transparency and openness in communication, partnered with the presentation of findings in operations meetings, allowed a collective understanding and discussion of the way forward.
By investing in the health and safety of our workforce, we aim to not only enhance the quality of life for our employees but also strengthen our operational excellence and sustainability ethos. The 2023 EU PMO represents an essential element of our sustainability journey and emphasizes that the well-being of our employees is integral to our success.
