Earth Day 2024: Collective Progress Through Personal Action

t TenCate Protective Fabrics, sustainability progress starts with people. Not only in how we work, but in how we show up—as individuals, as teammates, and as members of our communities. On Earth Day this past year, we took an opportunity to bring that belief to life across our global locations.

While environmental impact often sits at the center of Earth Day celebrations, in 2024 we also leaned into what the day represents in terms of social responsibility. By engaging employees at every location, we created space for people to take meaningful action—both in support of the environment and in service of those around them.

At our US locations, our teams collected plastic grocery bags to be repurposed into blankets and sleeping pads for people experiencing homelessness in the Atlanta area.

These efforts connected environmental stewardship with social care—addressing waste while directly supporting individuals in need. Our US teams also marked the day with tree and herb planting—an action that helped make Earth Day visible and tangible to all employees.

At our Nijverdal operation, employees received personalized reusable thermos cups—an initiative designed not only to reduce paper waste at work, but also throughout our employees' daily lives.

In our Bangkok office, our team collected milk cartons for the “Green Shelter Project,” which uses recycled materials to build roofing for families without access to safe housing.

This company-wide engagement is what social responsibility can look like in practice. It’s about each person doing their part and understanding that our collective action can contribute to a more sustainable future—both inside and outside the walls of our company.

As we continue to grow our sustainability efforts, Earth Day remains a valuable reminder to our teams: progress is personal, and everyone has a role to play.
