TenCate Protective Fabrics recognizes pollution prevention and control as a core element of environmental responsibility. As a manufacturer of high-performance protective fabrics, dyeing and finishing processes involve substances and operational steps that, if not properly managed, may result in emissions to air or water.
To address these risks, we take responsibility for continuously monitoring and improving air and water quality across our operations.
The strategic focus on compliance with applicable permits and regulatory requirements—including those governing wastewater treatment and discharge—is a cornerstone of our approach. As regulations continue to evolve and become more stringent, achieving compliance requires continuous investments and operational adjustments.
Our dyeing and finishing facilities in Europe and the United States operate wastewater management systems tailored to local regulatory requirements and site-specific conditions, ensuring that treatment processes align with both environmental standards and operational needs.
Our pollution prevention approach is structured around three focus areas:
1. Responsible chemical management – safe use, handling, and substitution of substances where feasible.
2. Emission and effluent management – treatment, reduction, and regular monitoring of emissions to air and water to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This includes wastewater treatment, emission reduction within production processes, and the use of emission control technologies.
3. Environmental incident prevention – implementation and maintenance of systems, technologies, and safeguards designed to prevent accidental releases.
Through these measures, we help ensure that emissions and effluents from production processes are properly managed and discharged in compliance with regulatory requirements. By embedding pollution prevention into our operations, we work to reduce environmental risks, protect ecosystems, and safeguard human health.
We aim to maintain full compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety, and operational permit requirements across all sites.

TenCate Protective Fabrics reports emissions of relevant pollutants to air and water to competent authorities in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, which vary by facility. All reported emissions are subject to regulatory oversight and verification.
