In support of our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship around climate change, our teams implemented significant energy-saving measures throughout 2023 at our production facility in Nijverdal, the Netherlands. These initiatives are pivotal components of a broader strategy to reduce our carbon footprint and enhance energy efficiency across all operations.
Our first step was installing three heat exchangers on our bleaching machine. This innovation harnesses excess heat, thereby reducing our reliance on external energy sources. It not only optimizes the manufacturing process but also significantly cuts down energy consumption.
Next, we optimized our hot water network, which marked a milestone in our effort to more effectively utilize residual heat from our steam boilers. By recapturing and repurposing this heat, our teams dramatically improved energy efficiency, which contributes to a substantial reduction in environmental impact.
In a further move toward energy conservation, our teams introduced a climate control system within our production halls. The system allows for precise temperature management, ensuring optimal working conditions while minimizing energy waste.
Finally, we renovated numerous sections of our steam network. The work was focused primarily around optimizing the return of condensate water, which allows us to both prevent energy loss and enhance the efficiency of the greater steam system.
These initiatives and more—our multi-faceted approach—form a foundational strategy aimed at increasing energy efficiency and reducing our overall impact on climate change.
